Dan Schreck is probably taller than you are. He is and has been living in Chicago, Illinois and has a shortage of what we call free time. Dan received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in May of 2009. That was the same weekend the Modern Wing at the Art Institute was unveiled to the public.

The Sound Department at SAIC is a noteworthy place. It’s one of the few Sound programs in the country at an art school and it’s also where Dan spent the majority of his studio time. Some relevant course titles are: Mixing and Mastering, Hardware Hacking, Rhythm, and Random Edges.

Not all time, however, was spent in dark recording studios, Dan found a freedom in the interdisciplinary nature of the school and was able to take classes in many other departments and mediums, like: Art&Technology, Fiber&Material Studies, Photography, Printmaking, and Visual Communication.

Today Dan is finding pleasure in collaborating with other people and working on more focused and weird projects including and up to audio installation, sound for film, and live performance. Dan has released two solo EP’s under creative commons licenses.
